What is Tech Club?
The Tech Club is a selected group of 5th and 6th grade students who are committed, creative, focused and motivated to run PRE’s daily, live morning news on closed circuit TV and learn to produce high quality videos for school and competitions.

The Tech Club is a selected group of 5th and 6th grade students who are committed, creative, focused and motivated to run PRE’s daily, live morning news on closed circuit TV and learn to produce high quality videos for school and competitions.
The Tech Club will:
- Run and operate PRE’s daily, live morning news station on closed circuit TV.
- Have opportunities to document school events.
- Learn video and digital camera use and skills.
- Learn how to plan, storyboard, film and edit videos.
- Produce videos for PRE’s morning news.
- Produce high quality videos to enter into video competitions.
Qualifications and Expectations:
- 5th or 6th Graders selected at the end of the previous school year as 4th and 5th graders.
- Committed, honest, responsible, respectful and focused.
- Needs to be a team player and willing to work in groups.
- Needs to keep up with schoolwork and responsibilities.
- Follows school rules and expectations. You will be an example to all students at PRE.
- Available every Monday and Thursday after school from 2:15 – 3:15 for Tech Club meetings, which is used for planning, filming, editing, etc.
- Available at 7:20 a.m. (during scheduled weeks) to run the morning news with their team.
- Has a good teacher recommendation.
Olelo Youth Exchange Video Contest
The Tech Club competes in Hawaii’s premiere and only statewide youth video contest open to all ages (elementary, middle, high, and college). Youth Xchange empowers youth to identify and bring critical community issues to the forefront via un-editorialized video content. Students are able to compete in sponsored and general categories such as Mini Documentary, Public Service Announcement, and Short. The video competition culminates at the annual awards banquet celebrating the achievements of the talented students and teachers.
