For new families to Pearl Ridge Elementary School, I am Adriane Awaya, PCNC Facilitator. PCNC is unique to the State of Hawaii and serves to create supportive partnerships among the home, school, and community for the purposes of supporting student success, and building a sense of family and community.
Our Mission To develop a sense of community and a caring, learning network to strengthen family, neighborhood, school, and classroom for every student's well-being and attainment of standards.
Our Goal The PCNC, with partners, will focus on family support and will work to implement the six Board of Education Parent/Family Involvement Policy #2403 components:
Communicating - Communication between home and school is regular, two way, and meaningful.
Parenting - Responsible parenting is promoted and supported.
Student Learning - Parents play an integral role in assisting student learning, including successful achievement of the Hawaii Content and Performance Standards.
Volunteering - Parents are welcome in the school, and their support and assistance are sought.
School Decision Making - Parents are partners in the decisions that affect children and families.
Collaborating with the Community - Community resources are made available to strengthen school programs, family practices, and student learning.
