Attendance Procedures During Distance Learning

To satisfy requirements of HRS §302A-1132, student attendance will be taken daily.  Pearl Ridge Elementary will take daily attendance and enter it into the Infinite Campus system. School attendance procedures will support PRE’s face-to-face and full distance learning configurations. Virtual classes will have mandatory attendance that will be recorded. Regardless of schedule, ALL students log in at 7:55am and join their homeroom video conference for attendance and morning business which ends at 8:10am.
Procedures:
  • Student attendance will be entered daily into Infinite Campus (IC) no later than 8:30am by the teacher
    • Students present during morning business (7:55-8:10am) will be marked PRESENT
    • Students not present during morning business (7:55-8:10am) will be marked ABSENT
  • Parents will be notified of absences via phone dialer system.

TARDIES: If the student misses morning business, a parent/legal guardian MUST call the office (305-9300) to report his/her child TARDY to participate in synchronous/asynchronous learning activities for the school day
  • For Office Use:  Upon receiving a “TARDY” notification from the parent, Office will adjust the student’s attendance from absent to tardy in Infinite Campus and notify the teacher via email.
    • If student does not attend/participate in the synchronous/asynchronous activities that day, it will be considered a “class cut.”  Teacher will submit a behavior referral to his/her respective counselor.

Should attendance concerns arise or persist, contact your grade level counselor for support.

For absence and tardy notes:
  • Parents will email notes for absences and/or tardies to: pre_office@pridge.k12.hi.us
Include:  student name, date(s) of absence or tardy, reason for absence, parent name and phone number.
    • If you cannot send an email, there will be a dropbox in the front office
  • If a parent emails a note to the teacher regarding their child’s tardy or absence, forward the email to the office.

Office will determine excused and unexcused tardies/absences.
Examples of excused tardies include:
    • Medical appointments
    • Court appearance
  • Examples of unexcused tardies include, but not limited to:
    • Overslept
    • Transportation issues
    • Caring for a family member (e.g., babysitting)
  • Examples of excused absences include:

    • Funerals
    • Court appearances
    • Suspensions
  • Examples of unexcused absences include, but not limited to:
    • Family vacation/trips
    • Sports competitions
    • Entertaining visitors or guests
    • Caring for a family member
